Stop asking whether you feel capable and start asking what capability would do next.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Feeling capable is a report on your current nervous system, not an assessment of the task. It fluctuates with sleep, mood, and who last spoke to you, and waiting for it means handing your schedule to something unreliable. The better question moves the focus outward, to what the work actually requires next, which is answerable regardless of how you feel about yourself today.

When you are stalling, stop auditing your readiness and describe the next concrete step instead. Not the whole project, just the action a capable person would take in the next ten minutes. Competence tends to arrive after the motion, not before it.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

If you were already capable, what would you do this week?
