Beliefs can change privately before language becomes available to discuss the change.

Conviction often shifts long before there are words for the shift. You can find yourself no longer believing something without being able to say when it went or what replaced it, and speaking too early tends to produce a clumsy version you then have to defend. The silence is not dishonesty. It is the interval between changing and being able to explain.
If something is moving inside you, let it stay unspoken for a while. Write privately instead of announcing. And when somebody else says something has changed without explaining it well, give them room rather than demanding a finished argument.
Have you quietly stopped believing something you have not said aloud?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
