The page crossed out halfway shows that even private words sometimes need reconsidering.
REFLECTION
REFLECTION
A journal is supposedly the place where nothing has to be edited, yet people cross things out there too. That crossing is not vanity, since no one else was coming. It is a person catching themselves mid-thought and deciding the sentence was not true, or not yet true, or truer in some other form. Even alone, you are still working out what you actually think.
Read back something you wrote a while ago without judging the person who wrote it. If a line no longer fits, write the revised version underneath rather than erasing. Keeping both shows you the distance travelled.
What did you write only for yourself and still decide to change?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
