Hard seasons do not always build character; sometimes they reveal what was already underneath.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

The idea that suffering automatically improves people is not quite right, and it can be cruel to people who suffered and were only damaged. What difficulty reliably does is remove the conditions that let you hide, so whatever you were already becoming shows more plainly. Some of what appears is strength you did not know you had. Some of it is a wound you had been managing quietly, and that is worth knowing too.

After a hard period, look at what showed up in you without judging it too quickly. If it was strength, note where it came from. If it was something you would rather not have seen, treat that as information about what needs care rather than proof of a flaw.
