Make things you would want to exist even if nobody had requested them.

Work made only on request is shaped by someone else’s sense of what should exist. Making something because you want it in the world puts your own judgment at the centre, and that judgment is the only thing that will ever make the work distinctive. It also survives better, because its reason to exist does not depend on demand.

Ask what is missing that you personally wish were available. Build a small version of it this month, without waiting for permission or evidence that others want it too.
