The rule is simple: Be sober and temperate, and you will be healthy.

— Benjamin Franklin

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Steady habits do more for how you feel than most of the interventions people go looking for. Sleep, moderate drinking, food that is not extreme in either direction: plain and unimpressive, and still the largest lever available to most people most of the time. It is not a guarantee, because bodies are not that obedient and illness arrives for reasons that have nothing to do with conduct. It is simply the part you have some say over.

Choose one of the plain things and hold it steady for a month rather than chasing a new regime. Consistency is where the effect lives, not intensity.
