Conscience is its own readiest accuser.

REFLECTION
Nobody has to catch you. The clearest evidence against you is already in your possession and it starts talking on its own schedule, usually at night and usually about something no one else noticed. That is uncomfortable and it is also a working instrument, since the discomfort has a job, which is to keep you tolerable to live with. People who have silenced it are not better off.
When something keeps returning to you unprompted, treat it as a signal rather than a mood to be managed. Usually a small correction is available, an apology or a repair, smaller than the thinking you have already spent on it.
What accusation do you make against yourself before anyone else can?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
