Time will explain it all. He is a talker, and needs no questioning before he speaks.

STILLNESS
Some questions cannot be answered on demand and will answer themselves if left alone. Whether a person meant well, whether a decision was right, whether the new arrangement will hold: pressing for an early verdict produces guesses, while a few months produce evidence unasked. The urge to know now is mostly discomfort with not knowing, a different problem from the one you think you are solving.
Pick the question you have been turning over and give it a date instead of an answer. Decide to look at it again in a month, write that down, and let the interval do the work you were trying to do by thinking.
What question are you pressing that time will answer anyway?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
