The love of justice is simply, in the majority of men, the fear of suffering injustice.

LEADERSHIP
Most of the enthusiasm for fairness is self-protection wearing better clothes. People want rules because rules limit what can be done to them, and the passion tends to rise sharply when they are the ones exposed and fall away when they are not. That does not make fairness less valuable. A system built on everyone’s fear of being on the wrong end is still a system that protects the person on the wrong end.
Test yourself where it costs something. Look for a rule you have been quietly happy to see bent in your favour, and apply it to yourself the way you would want it applied to someone else.
Which principle of yours protects mainly you?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
