Love keeps the cold out better than a cloak. It serves for food and raiment.

GRATITUDE
Affection does practical work, not only emotional work. People who are genuinely loved endure hard conditions better, need less from their circumstances, and recover from setbacks faster. It does not replace bread, and it changes what a lean year does to a person. Its absence is felt the same way in reverse, as a coldness in the bones of an otherwise comfortable life.
Since it functions as a supply, treat it as one. Give it an hour on a busy day, and put it above one thing that currently outranks it. Tell someone plainly rather than assuming they already know.
Whose affection kept you going through a lean season?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
