Everybody in this world wants watching, but nobody more than ourselves.

— Josh Billings

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Other people are easy to keep an eye on because you see them from outside, where the gap between what they say and what they do is plain. Your own conduct arrives pre-explained. Every shortcut comes with a reason attached, and the reason is available before the judgement, which makes you the one person you cannot observe honestly without effort.

Try a short review at the end of the day, in writing, of what you actually did rather than what you meant to do. Keep it brief and unsentimental. A week of that will show you patterns nobody else would have dared mention.
