When we pray for any virtue, we should cultivate the virtue as well as pray for it; the form of your prayers should be the rule of your life.

GRATITUDE
Asking for a quality and practising it are meant to be the same motion. Wanting to be patient does nothing on its own; the wish becomes real only where you behave patiently in the particular situation that tests you. Whatever you regularly ask for is a fair statement of what you value, so it makes sense to check whether your ordinary conduct matches the request.
Take the thing you keep wishing you were more of, and find the one place this week where it will be tested. Behave as the wish describes in that instance, and let the practice carry the asking.
What are you hoping for without doing anything toward it?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
