Politeness is to goodness what words are to thoughts.

Courtesy is how decency becomes visible. Good intentions that never take a form nobody else can perceive do almost no work in the world, in the same way that a thought never spoken stays entirely private. Manners are the expression rather than the substance, and they are also not nothing, since the substance has no other way of reaching anyone. Kindness that stays inside the head is unusable.

Take the good feeling you have toward someone and put it into an actual form this week. A message, an offer, a small courtesy that costs you something is the difference between meaning well and doing well.
