Some of the most important things you do will never become achievements you can list.

Achievements are the parts of a life that can be extracted and listed, which is a small and unrepresentative subset. Sitting with someone through a hard year, raising a child, being reliable across a long stretch, none of that reduces to a line. The format is the limitation, not the work.

Spend a moment identifying what you have done that cannot be listed. Give it the weight it has earned. The unlistable part is often the part that would be missed.
