Let us a little permit Nature to take her own way; she better understands her own affairs than we.

— Michel de Montaigne

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Not everything needs managing. Bodies, disputes and difficult seasons often have their own course, and constant interference can slow what would have settled on its own. There is a difference between neglect and letting a process run. Knowing which situations are which is most of the skill.

Pick the thing you have been adjusting daily with no sign of improvement. Leave it alone for a set period, a week or a fortnight, and look again at the end. If it has moved on its own, you have learned something about how much of your effort was needed.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What situation are you managing that would settle better left alone?
