Not by years but by disposition is wisdom acquired.

— Plautus

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Wisdom is not a by-product of surviving a certain number of years. It comes from a particular way of meeting experience: paying attention, being willing to be wrong, drawing the lesson rather than the grievance. Plenty of people accumulate decades and very little else.

After the next thing that goes badly, spend ten minutes on what it actually taught you, before the story hardens into a complaint. Ask what you would do differently, in plain words. Doing that regularly is the whole difference between experience and wisdom.
