The things worth living for are not always the things worth showing off.

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

The parts of a life that make it worth living are largely undisplayable, since they consist of relationships, private satisfactions, and work whose value is not legible from outside. What displays well is a separate set of things, chosen partly because they display. Confusing the two is easy and expensive.

Ask which of your current pursuits you would keep if there were no audience at all. Then check how much of your time goes to the ones that would not survive that test.
