There are truths which are not for all men, nor for all times.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Something can be entirely true and still be the wrong thing to say to this person today. Truth does not carry its own timing, and the person hearing it has to be in a state to use it, otherwise all you have delivered is a weight they cannot put down. Saying everything true to everyone is a way of avoiding the harder work of judgment.

Before you deliver a hard truth, ask what the person can actually do with it and whether you are telling them for their sake or your own relief. Wait for a better hour if there is one. Some things you may simply carry.
