Where boasting ends, there dignity begins.

LEADERSHIP
Self-advertisement and dignity cannot occupy the same space. The moment you begin telling people how good something of yours is, you have handed them the job of assessing whether it is true, and the claim becomes the thing in the room instead of the work. Silence about your own merits is not modesty for its own sake; it leaves the evidence free to speak.
Go through what you are about to say and remove the line that was there to impress. Let the work or the fact stand unaccompanied. If nobody notices, that is information about the work rather than a reason to start announcing it.
What could you stop announcing and simply let stand?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
