Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.

LEADERSHIP

WHAT THIS MEANS

Watching for a result and producing one draw on the same attention. Time spent checking, comparing and measuring is time not spent on the work that would move anything, and the checking also distorts judgement, since it pushes you toward whatever shows progress soonest. People absorbed in the thing itself tend to do better work and to notice recognition late.

Try removing one measurement from your week: the numbers you refresh, the comparison you make, the update you check. Replace it with a fixed review once a month. The work usually improves, and the constant low-level scoring is not doing what you think it is.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What absorbed you so fully you forgot to measure it?
