One machine can do the work of fifty ordinary men. No machine can do the work of one extraordinary man.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Routine work can be copied and mechanised, and more of it becomes so every decade. What resists is judgement, originality, and the ability to notice that the question itself is wrong. Calling most people ordinary is an unkind way to make the point, since the difference far more often lies in what someone has been given room to develop than in what they are.

Look at your own work and ask which parts a machine could already do. Then move your attention toward the parts that need a person, because those are the parts that keep their value.
