Buying an answer is fast and available only when someone has already made one and you can afford it. Building capability is slower and works in every case where purchase fails, which turns out to be the cases that matter most. It also leaves you with something afterward.

When you cannot buy the solution, ask what you would need to learn to make one. Estimate honestly. It is often less than you assume and always more useful than continuing to look for a purchase.
