Resourceful minds ask different questions before requesting more.

Asking for more is the natural first move and it skips several better questions. What is the problem really, what have we not tried, what could be substituted, what if we did less. Those questions frequently dissolve the need entirely, and they take an hour rather than a budget cycle.

Before your next request for resources, spend that hour. Sometimes you will still need to ask, and you will ask for the right thing.
