Doing nothing is better than being busy doing nothing.

— Lao Tzu

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Busyness can be a convincing imitation of progress. Filling hours with activity that achieves nothing wears you out and leaves no room to think, while genuine stillness at least lets you rest and see clearly. Frantic motion also hides the fact that nothing important is happening, which makes it harder to change course.

Look back at yesterday and mark the activities that moved nothing forward and gave you no rest. Replace one of them with real stillness, a walk or a pause, and see whether the next useful move becomes clearer.
