You need chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star.

— Friedrich Nietzsche

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Order is comfortable and rarely surprising. Something new tends to come out of a period when your settled ideas no longer fit together, when you are unsure, restless, pulled in several directions at once. That disorder is uncomfortable, and it is easy to assume it means something is wrong with you, when sometimes it is simply the raw material of change. Real distress is different, though, and not every storm needs to be turned into art or insight.

If you are in a confused period, try not to force it into tidy conclusions too soon. Keep notes on what is stirring. Something with its own shape may form out of it later.
