Skill gives courage practical support.

RESILIENCE
Courage on its own can only get you to the edge of a thing. What lets you actually cross is knowing, in your hands, what to do once you are past the edge. Bravery without capability tends to burn out fast, because each attempt costs enormous nerve and produces little to build on. Skill gives that nerve somewhere to land and turns a single act of daring into something repeatable.
If you keep needing to psych yourself up for the same task, the missing piece is probably practice rather than resolve. Break the thing into its components and get comfortable with one of them until it no longer requires a deep breath. Courage spent on the genuinely unknown is well spent, but courage spent on what you could simply have learned is a waste.
