Go put your creed into the deed. Nor speak with double tongue.

— Ralph Waldo Emerson

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Beliefs cost nothing until they are acted on, which is why so many are held so comfortably. The gap between what you say you value and what you actually do is visible to almost everyone except yourself. Speaking one way in one room and another way in the next widens that gap, and it quietly erodes trust even when nobody calls it out. Consistency is less about purity than about being the same person across settings.

Write down two values you would name if asked. Look at last week’s calendar and spending for evidence of each. Where the evidence is thin, choose one small act that would close the gap.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

Where do your actions and your stated values quietly disagree?
