No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Collective harm is made of individual contributions that each seem too small to matter. One person’s silence, one share of a cruel post, one shrug at an unfair decision: none feels decisive, so nobody feels accountable, and yet the result is real. The same mechanism lets large groups do things no member would do alone. Diffused responsibility is comfortable precisely because it never lands anywhere.

Think of a situation where something wrong is being done by many people together, at work, online or in a community. Identify your own small portion of it. Decide whether to keep contributing, knowing that the whole is made of portions like yours.
