No mind is thoroughly well organized that is deficient in a sense of humor.

— Samuel Taylor Coleridge

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Humour is not a distraction from clear thinking but part of it. Being able to see the absurdity in a situation, including your own role in it, keeps you from taking every idea too seriously and helps you hold perspective when things go wrong. A mind with no room for laughter tends toward rigidity, and rigidity is its own kind of disorder.

Notice when you last laughed at yourself. If it has been a while, look for the ridiculous side of one thing currently stressing you. You do not have to dismiss the problem to find it funny, and finding it funny may help you think about it more clearly.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What can you not yet laugh about, and probably should?
