Every life is a profession of faith, and exercises an inevitable and silent influence.

— Henri-Frédéric Amiel

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Whatever you would say you believe if asked, your ordinary days are making a profession of their own. Priorities, refusals and small habits announce a position whether or not you ever state one, and the people around you read that announcement accurately. The influence works quietly, which is exactly why it is hard to correct.

Look at how last week was spent and ask what a stranger would conclude you hold to be worth the most. Where that answer and your stated commitments diverge, the days are the more reliable record. Changing them is slower than changing your mind, and it is the change others will notice.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

If someone watched your ordinary week, what would they say you value?
