Faced with what is right, to leave it undone shows a lack of courage.

— Confucius

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Most of the time, not doing the right thing is not a problem of knowing what it is. The answer is usually clear enough; what is missing is the willingness to bear the awkwardness, the cost or the disapproval that doing it would bring. Hesitation then dresses itself up as caution or as waiting for a better moment.

There are real constraints, and sometimes staying quiet is the wiser course. But it is worth asking, about one thing you have been putting off, whether the reason you give yourself is the actual reason. If the honest answer is fear, a smaller first step may be easier to take than the whole thing.
