The great use of life is to spend it for something that will outlast it.

— William James

REFLECTION

WHAT THIS MEANS

Time spent only on what ends with you tends to feel thin by the close. Pouring some of it into things that continue, a garden someone else will harvest, a skill passed on, a community made a little sturdier, gives the hours a reach beyond your own span. Leaving something behind does not have to be grand to count.

Choose one small thing this week that will keep giving after your part in it is done, such as teaching someone what you know or planting something that grows slowly.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What are you building that will still stand without you?
