Build because the work deserves existence.
CREATIVITY
CREATIVITY
Some things are worth making simply because they should exist, regardless of what they do for your standing. That is a different motive from wanting credit, and it produces different decisions all the way down, particularly in the parts nobody will inspect. Work built on that motive tends to hold together, because the maker had no reason to cut the invisible corners.
Ask of your current project whether you would want it to exist if someone else had made it. If yes, you have the right reason and can stop worrying about attribution for a while. If no, that is worth understanding before you spend more of your life on it.
What would you make even if it earned you nothing?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
