Patience is necessary, and one cannot reap immediately where one has sown.

— Søren Kierkegaard

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Effort and result are separated by a gap that nothing shortens, and the gap is where most people quit. Nothing visible happens for a long stretch after work has been done properly, which feels identical to nothing happening because the work was wrong. Telling those two apart is the real difficulty, and it takes either evidence or trust.

Decide in advance how long you will give something before judging it, and write the date down. Until then, measure the work rather than the results. A season is usually the smallest honest unit.
