Love will find a way through paths where wolves fear to prey.

— Lord Byron

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Attachment makes people do things they could never do for themselves. Someone timid about their own interests will walk straight into a confrontation for a child or a friend, and the courage is not borrowed so much as released, because the fear that usually governs them has been outranked. That is worth knowing when you are trying to work out your own limits.

If there is a difficult thing you have been avoiding, try asking who else it is for. Framing a task around a person you care about often supplies nerve that self-improvement never manages. It is not a trick, it is how nerve tends to work in most people.
