Problems reward curiosity more reliably than panic.

CREATIVITY

WHAT THIS MEANS

Panic narrows what you can see at precisely the moment you need a wide view. Curiosity does the opposite, keeping you looking for another few minutes, noticing the detail that does not fit, asking the question that turns out to matter. The problem responds to attention, and panic is a very poor form of attention despite feeling like intense engagement.

When something goes wrong, try asking what is interesting about it before asking what it means for you. It sounds like a trick and it genuinely changes what you notice. The concern will still be there afterwards, better informed.
