Find ecstasy in life the mere sense of living is joy enough.

— Emily Dickinson

GRATITUDE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Being alive is itself unusual, and most of the time that fact is invisible under the weight of what has to be done today. None of this says circumstances do not matter, only that a baseline of astonishment sits underneath them and does not require anything to go particularly well. It is not a mood you can order; it is more like something you can stop overlooking.

Try a minute of deliberately noticing that you exist, inside whatever the day already contains. Breath, light, the weight of your own hands. Nobody is graded on how often this works.

A QUESTION TO SIT WITH

What plain part of your day was quietly good?
