To have no time for philosophy is to be a true philosopher.

— Blaise Pascal

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Dismissing the big questions is itself an answer to them. Anyone who says they have no time for thinking about how to live has settled on a view about what matters and is acting on it, whether or not they would call that a position. There is a second edge too: somebody absorbed in living well may be doing the very thing the theorising was supposed to be for.

Both readings are useful. Notice the assumptions running your week that have never been examined. And be a little suspicious of thinking about a life as a substitute for conducting one.
