Let people underestimate the water while you measure the depth.

LEADERSHIP
Being underestimated is a position with real advantages. People who assume you are simple do not prepare carefully, reveal more than they mean to, and leave you time to understand a situation before you have to act in it. Correcting them costs you all of that in exchange for a moment of recognition. The measuring is more valuable than the credit.
When you enter something new, resist the urge to establish yourself immediately. Spend the early period learning how things actually work and who actually decides. You can demonstrate what you know later, and it will land better once you understand the room.
Where does being underestimated quietly work in your favour?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
