It is a characteristic of wisdom not to do desperate things.

REFLECTION
Desperation makes decisions a calmer version of you would refuse. Under pressure the time horizon collapses, relief becomes the only goal, and unacceptable options start to look reasonable, which is how people end up somewhere worse than what they were fleeing. Wisdom here is mostly not deciding while in that state. The judgement is not wrong for being bold, it is wrong for having been made by panic.
When you feel the urge to act immediately so a bad feeling stops, treat it as the signal to wait. Give it a night, or an hour if a night is not available. Almost nothing that needs doing gets worse for being considered.
What desperate move are you glad you did not make?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
