Work that has no fixed place to go gets scattered across notes, messages, and memory, and reassembling it eats the time you meant to spend working. A single consistent home, one document, one folder, one notebook, means every session adds to the same pile and you can always see what you have.

Choose one place for the current project and put everything there, even the untidy parts. Resist the urge to reorganise it into something better. Consistency of location matters more than quality of system.
