Travel, in the younger sort, is a part of education in the elder, a part of experience.

CREATIVITY
The same trip does different work depending on when you take it. Early on it functions as instruction, showing you that your own arrangements are local rather than natural, which is difficult to learn any other way. Later it works differently, less about being formed and more about testing what you already think against somewhere that never heard of it. Both are worth having, and neither substitutes for the other.
If you have not been anywhere unfamiliar in a while, the shortage may be perspective rather than leisure. It need not be far away. Anywhere running on different assumptions from yours will do the job.
Where did travel teach you something home never could?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
