Train until your old maximum becomes ordinary.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

The point of training is not to touch a peak occasionally but to make what was once a peak into an ordinary day. That is when real progress has occurred, because it means the level is now supported by everything underneath rather than reached by a special effort. Peaks are exciting and baselines are what actually determine what you can do.

Instead of chasing your best performance, work on raising what you can produce on a routine day. It is less satisfying to measure. It is the number that decides what you are actually capable of over time.
