Make excellence boring enough to become dependable.

There is a version of high standards that is dramatic, involving late nights, crises, and heroic saves, and it is exhausting and unrepeatable. The better version is dull, where the good result happens routinely because the process makes it happen, and nobody has a story about it. Dependability requires that the excellence stop being an event.

If your good outcomes currently require heroics, look at what would have to change for them to be ordinary. Usually it is timing, preparation, or a step done earlier. Boring is the goal, however unglamorous it sounds.
