Time is really the only capital that any human being has, and the only thing he can’t afford to lose.

— Thomas Edison

STILLNESS

WHAT THIS MEANS

Everything else you spend can, in principle, come back. Money returns, energy returns, a reputation can be rebuilt over years. The hours do not, and that asymmetry is worth holding without turning it into a reason to hurry. Treating time as capital is not an argument for filling it; it is an argument for noticing who and what is being paid.

Look at where a large share of last week actually went, not where you meant it to go. Some of it will have gone to things nobody asked you to do and nobody noticed. That is the part worth reclaiming first, and rest is not on that list.
