How poor are they that have not patience! What wound did ever heal but by degrees?

STILLNESS

STILLNESS
Nothing that was really damaged mends all at once. Skin, trust, grief and health repair in small increments, most of them too small to feel on the day. Impatience does not speed that up; it only adds a second ache on top of the first. Being able to wait is more a resource than a virtue, and it can run low through no fault of yours.
If something in you is mending slowly, try measuring in months rather than mornings. Ask what one degree of better would look like, and let that count as the whole of today’s progress.
