REFLECTION
Disagreements drift away from the problem and toward the scoreboard. Once you are defending a position because it is yours, you will keep defending it after you have stopped believing it. The question of who wins is easier to feel than the question of what actually holds up. A room that cares about being right together gets further than a room where someone has to lose.
In your next disagreement, say out loud what would change your mind. If someone else supplies it, thank them and move, rather than looking for a way to have been right all along.
In which argument do you care more about winning than resolving?
Free, with nothing to buy inside it.
