The faith that stands on authority is not faith.

GRATITUDE
Believing something because a trusted voice said so is obedience wearing the clothes of conviction. Real conviction has to be yours: tested against what you have seen, held for reasons you could give if the authority disappeared tomorrow. This is not an argument against learning from people who know more. It is a caution about the difference between being persuaded and being told.
Take one belief you hold firmly and trace it back to where it came from. If the only support is that someone respected said it, go and look for yourself. Keep what survives, and hold the rest a little more lightly.
Which of your beliefs did you inherit rather than arrive at?
