The more we do, the more we can do.

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Capacity is not a fixed amount you spend down. It behaves more like a muscle: the work you did last month is why this month’s work feels lighter. Each finished thing leaves you with a little more skill, a little more nerve, and a shorter distance between deciding and starting.

If you feel unable to take something on, the answer is rarely rest alone. Pick the smallest version of the thing and finish it this week, then notice whether the next one comes easier. Keep a short record of what you actually completed, since your sense of your own capacity tends to lag behind the truth.
