What we hope ever to do with ease, we must learn first to do with diligence.

— Samuel Johnson

RESILIENCE

WHAT THIS MEANS

Ease is not a starting condition; it is a residue. The things you now do without thinking were once slow and awkward, and the awkwardness was the work happening. Anyone who looks effortless has simply moved the effort earlier, into hours you never saw.

If something still feels clumsy, that is a fact about where you are, not about what you are capable of. Give the difficult part deliberate attention this week instead of hurrying past it to the parts you already do well. Slow repetition now is what buys the fluency later, and there is no shorter road to it.
